fuuseChalice.gifThe Fairfax Unitarian Universalist Summer Experience
You Can Make A Difference!

The Fairfax Unitarian Universalist Summer Experience (FUUSE) is a program for Unitarian Universalist youth to live out their Unitarian Universalist values in the larger community. 2006interns.jpg  Sixteen interns were placed in internships with social justice organizations in Fairfax County in the summer of 2007.  Our interns gained a greater understanding of social issues in our community and many will include their FUUSE experience on future college and job applications.  In 2007, FUUSE was funded in part by a grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility.  The FUUSE project this year is funded in part by the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility through a matching grant of $2500.

FUUSE Program Goals:

  • Provide a meaningful work experience for young people.
  • Broaden interns' awareness of social justice issues and values.
  • Reach out to the broader community by providing youth interns to serve in Fairfax County social service and social action agencies.
  • Deepen our intern’s connection to their faith, their community, and each other.
  • Spread the message of Unitarian Universalism out into our community.

2007interns.JPGAt completion of their service, the interns received a stipend depending on the number of hours worked: 80-hour internships received a $400 stipend, 100-hour internships received a $500 stipend, and a 120-hour internship received a $595 stipend. FUUSE seeks young people, typically rising 9th-12th graders, who are looking for asummer of service.
