About This Site

Welcome to the Home of the
UUCF Denominational Affairs Committee (DAC)

Our committee provides connections with

  • Unitarian Universalist (UU) congregations and programs in the Greater Washington Association of Congregations (GWA)
  • UU congregations, conferences, camps, and programs in our Joseph Priestley District, serving 65 congregations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia
  • The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA) with headquarters on Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts

The DAC is a clearing house of information, which we attempt to pass along to our congregation via articles in our UUCF newsletter, via e-mail to the UUCF Info and Chat lists, via our section of the bulletin board in the Commons, and by announcements and flyers.

Some of our particular activities are the solicitation of UUCF Delegates to the annual General Assembly of the UUA and to the annual Joseph Priestley District Conference, and the encouragement of UUCF members who attend local and regional denominational meetings, workshops, summer camps, seminaries, and UU gatherings of all sorts.

We are charged with disseminating information and polling our congregation on the Study-Action Issues that are proposed by congregations for consideration in formulating Statements of Conscience at each General Assembly (GA).  This process is organized by the UUA’s Commission on Social Witness and is the way we democratically discern social justice issues that will present the face of Unitarian Universalism to the public.

Our DAC meetings are open to all members of UUCF and we welcome your participation.  We maintain ongoing communication with the UUCF Board and report a summary of our activities to the congregation via the Annual Report.

For further information on denominational affairs at the several levels of association mentioned above, we invite you to visit the links that follow.  In your travels around the Web or around the country, if you find interesting information on Unitarian Universalist congregations, programs, or history; please pass it along.

For information about our committee and program, contact Bob Hatfield: hatfieldr@erols.com .
