About This Site

About This Website

This site is a database-backed website built using DotNetNuke® -- a free, extensible, Open Source platform.  DotNetNuke is an ideal solution for organizations who have outgrown the simplest hosting solutions.  If you are just starting thinking about a website, this presentation is a good starting point.

Instructions for editing pages can be found here (Note, however, that you will not be able to edit pages on this website unless you are a UUCF member or friend who has been given the necessary permissions by the web team or one of the content administrators). You can practice editing here.  You should also use this space if you are making anything other than the simplest of changes so as to not have a page be broken while you're working on it.

Instructions for setting up your own database-backed community website can be found here (includes everything from hosting and set-up to modules that we have developed and are making freely available for download).  With minimal hosting fees (<$10/month for non-profits), and a $33 start-up cost, you can have all of the functionality of this website and much, much more.

It is our intention to document everything possible about this website in order to:

  • facilitate the training of new editors/content maintainers for this site
  • create a documentation package that we can pass on to new web team members
  • make it easy for other churches (and other organizations) to build similar websites

The UUCF Web Team welcomes all questions and comments and would particularly like to hear from members or friends wishing to join the team or other churches interested in coordinating efforts.
