Women's Spirit Circle
What is the Women's Spirit Circle?
The mission of the Women’s Spirit Circle is to promote the well being and spiritual growth of the women of UUCF. By meeting in sacred circles we empower each other and support each other’s spiritual journeys. We seek to raise consciousness about women’s issues among ourselves, the congregation as a whole, and in the wider community by exploring feminist spirituality in its many forms.
There are three main ways to participate in the Women’s Spirit Circle.
- One is small groups of 10-12 women who meet regularly for spiritual exploration and council sharing. By speaking the truth of our lives we are empowered.
- The second is seasonal celebrations and rituals which we hold throughout the year. These are organized and led by our Ritual Council with input from the participants. Some of these are only for ritual council members, others are open to any woman. Some seasonal rituals such as our Winter Solstice Celebration are open to men and children of all ages.
- The third aspect is our outreach work to the larger UU Women’s community and the international women’s movement. Examples are sponsoring micro loans for women in developing countries, sending a delegation to the International Convocation of UU Women, fundraising efforts for V-Day and UU Women and Religion adult education courses such as "Cakes for the Queen of Heaven."
Openings in sacred circles are always available. You are most welcome to join us. An open, drop-in circle meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings at 9am. You are welcome to drop in at anytime to the open circle, no advance notice required. You need not be a member of UUCF to particpate in the women's spirit circle.
