High School Events/Activities

The  9th-12th grade Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU) has three sessions that meet regularly on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. One group meets from 4:30- 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and the other group meets Sundays from 9:15-10:15 a.m.   All groups meet in the Teen Center (Room 11) in the Program Building.

There are many opportunities to participate in social justice events, service activities and to gather for fun and friendship.

Youth are also encouraged to participate fully in the life of the congregation: attend worship services, volunteer for committees, sing in one of the choirs, teach Sunday School, and attend adult religious education courses.

Youth Adult Committee (YAC) The Youth Adult Committee, a committee comprised of youth and adults, is responsible for the oversight of social and social justice programming.  All youth are invited to attend meetings.  The committee meets in the Teen Center (Room 11) in the Program Building on the second Sunday of every month from 10:30-11:30 a.m.  Our next meeting is Sunday, January 8.

Coming of Age program:

Are you and your child interested in learning more about growing up in the UU faith within the context of our congregation? Join Rob Creekmore as we begin to create together a Coming of Age program that engages and celebrates the joys and challenges of the journey from childhood to adulthood. With the goal of initiating a program in Winter 2011, please help us design a program that best meets the needs of our community. Contact robcreekmore [at] verizon [dot] net (Rob Creekmore).

FUUSE

The Fairfax Unitarian Universalist Summer Experience (FUUSE) is a program for Unitarian Universalist youth to live out their Unitarian Universalist values in the larger community. Twenty-one interns were placed in internships with social service/justice organizations in Fairfax County in the summer of 2011. Our interns gain a greater understanding of social issues in our community. Many include their FUUSE experience on college and job applications. Find out more.
