We are an environmental action committee, researching and promoting environmentally sustainable lifestyles in Northern Virginia and beyond. A Unitarian Universalist Association Green Sanctuary, we drive projects in areas including residential, ethical eating, transportation, green burial and more.
We are organized to deliver:
- Sustainable living practices
- Environmental justice and community outreach
- Worship and celebration events
- Adult and youth religious education
Latest Projects:
The Green Sanctuary Residential Task Force was given funding from an anonymous donor to provide very low cost professional energy audits to 20 households. The results are in!
- Check out our Teaching Garden, located between the Administration Building and Teen Center!
Ongoing Committees:
Green Sanctuary Group's Residential Task Force meets every other Sunday at 7 p. m. in the Program Building. Join us to work on managing a "Lending Library" of items used to make homes energy efficient; partnering with Religious Education to develop environmental education; promoting sustainable operation of our campus; and sharing factual information on Climate Change and Energy Shortages. For questions contact Jim Binkley at sjc@uucf.org.
