Chalice Lighters
Chalice Lighters is a program of the Joseph Priestley District (JPD), serving Unitarian Universalist congregations in southern New Jersey, eastern and central Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia. The program promotes the growth of Unitarian Universalism by making grants to congregations for professional staff, acquisition of land or buildings, and other growth efforts.
For the last 21 years, Chalice Lighters has funded grants to 49 societies totaling more than $1.7 million. For as little as $60 a year, you can "add your spark to our flame" somewhere in our district. UUCF has always supported this program, but lately participation is down to only 16 percent. The UUCF Denominational Affairs Committee urges members to join the 4,000 UUs who are committed to sharing the transformative power of our liberal faith.
